Imogene Teakell, 86, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in Graham. A Graveside service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Imogene was born November 24, 1928 in Young County to the late Ross Monroe and Georgia Ann (Tomlinson) Averett. She married Alvin E. Teakell July 29, 1952 in Aztec, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1987. Imogene moved to Graham in 1976 from Pampa, Texas. She was a former employee of Graham General Hospital working in the dietary department. Imogene was known for her dry wit, hard work, and she was a self taught musician.
Survivors include; son, Victor Teakell of Graham; daughter, Susan Smith of N. Carolina; brothers, Arvel Averett and wife Doris of Granbury, Billy Averett and wife Judy of Olney; granddaughters, Wendy Teakell of Graham, Laura Smith Maine of Nashville, Misty Jensen of Graham; great grandchildren, Coby Teakell, Courtney Squibb, Brittaney Squibb, Chance Teakell, Destiny Teakell, and Derek Brock.
Imogene was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Dierickx and Alma Rhea Cathey.
