Iona Bell Curtis Taylor, 95, passed away Monday Jan. 31, 2011. The family celebrated Iona's life on Saturday, April 16, 2011 in Graham.

Mrs. Taylor was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Rule to William and Ruth Curtis. She was raised in Graham and was a longtime resident of Vernon and Fort Worth before moving to Houston in 2007. Iona was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Iona lived her faith as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, caring daughter and sister. She was the foundation for her family, a caregiver for her parents and brother and was always ready to help anyone in need, giving generously of her love and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Taylor; parents, William and Ruth Curtis; brother, Jesse Curtis; sister, Vera Webster; and daughter-in-law, Linda Taylor.

Survivors include daughter and generous caregiver, Mary Ann Thummel and husband Craig; sons, Scott and Vic and wife Casey; granddaughter, Noel McCarter and husband Robert; grandson, Nathan Taylor Hardenberg; nephew, Steve Elder and wife Tricia of Hempstead; niece, Martha Wilde of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; great-nieces, Linda Rea and life partner Pam Van Dyke, Pam Gist and husband Brent and Jaime Hughes and husband David; special friend, Yolanda Solis of Houston.
