Irene Creel

Irene Creel, 94, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in Graham. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Proffitt Cemetery in Young County under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Irene was born on October 16, 1916 in Throckmorton County to the late Frelon George and Stella Elizabeth (Shoemate) Wiley. She married Leon Creel on May 4, 1939 in Bunger. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2002. Irene attended school in Bunger, Newcastle, and Texas Tech and helped her husband with farming and ranching in the Proffitt Community. She was a member of the Proffitt Baptist Church.

Survivors include: four daughters, Pat and Don Simpson of Valley Mills, Nancy and Henry Smith of Corpus Christi, Judy and Don Cradduck of Aspermont, and Ruby and Doug Quinn of Newcastle; son, Bub and Cathy Creel of Proffitt; brother, Jack and Holla Wiley of Wimberley; brother-in-law, L.B. Creel of Loving; eight grandchildren, Debbie Meurer, Steve Simpson, Will Cradduck, Karen Taylor, Bruce Bailey, Mac Creel, Sumer Shelton, and Sam Creel; nine great-grandchildren, Jerod, Dalton, and Jolee Meurer, Mistie Moon, Brandon and Courtney Bailey, Ashley Snyder, and Preston and Jett Shelton; two great great-grandchildren, Caiden Meurer and Gatlin Simmons.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Noma Wiley and Lucille Kisinger and brother, Frelon Wiley.
