James Craig Stamper, 70, born on January 19, 1945 to Willis Glenn Stamper, Sr. and Billye Louise (Moore) Stamper in Jacksboro, Texas, passed from this life to the next on August 18, 2015.
Craig spent his entire childhood growing up in Bryson and he made many lifelong friends there. After graduating from high school in 1963, he attended college at Texas Christian University. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Sharon Kaye Henderson, and they were a perfect match. Craig owned and operated an oilfield roustabout company (Graham Oilfield Construction) from 1974-1989. During that time he employed many young men whom he greatly respected. In 1990, he became an independent oil producer and partnered in business with his brothers(Willis Glenn Stamper, Jr. (Bill) and Stephen Findley Stamper), and business partner/friend Robbie Martin. Craig was a wonderful husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, employer, and confidante! Among his finest qualities were loyalty, mercy, and generosity. Most of all, he loved God and felt nothing but compassion for those who were suffering. According to us (his family), Craig (dad/Papaw) will forever remain the most generous man we were ever honored to know! He loved us, and we felt his unfailing love.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving grandparents (L.O and Lilla Belle Moore and H.F. & Vada Craig Stamper).
Those left behind to treasure his memory include his wife Sharon Kaye of Graham, daughters, Sheryl Ann Casey and husband Eastin, Susan Michelle Cox, and Shannon Lee White and husband Chris all of Graham, brothers, Willis G. Stamper, Jr. and wife Judith of Frisco, Stephen F. Stamper and wife Karen of Wichita Falls, grandchildren, Kacey Danielle Wakefield and husband J.D., Jeremy James Lindley and girlfriend, Kristen Duncan, Erich Brady Cox, Ryan Christopher White, Ashley Sharon White, and Tyger Casey and wife Kylie of Fort Worth, great-grandchildren Tera Jade Wakefield and Major James Lindley.
The family wishes to thank the numerous family members and lifelong friends who visited Craig during the past three months, and Beyond Faith Hospice for their exceptional care and concern during his last days.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 p.m.
The family will have a graveside service on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Oak Wood Cemetery in Jacksboro, Texas at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at Cross Timbers Church in Graham at 11:30 a.m. Officiating the services will be the Rev. Chris White.
