Jane Geurin Bell

Jane Carolyn Geurin Bell, 83, passed away on September 11, 2024 at Hendrick Hospice Care, Abilene, Texas following a recent fall in her home. Services will be held on Sunday, September 15th at 4 o'clock at Pioneer Cemetery Gazebo, Graham, Texas, conducted by Rev. D.C. Adams, Minister of First Presbyterian Church.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Jane had lived most of her adult life in Abilene, Texas. Born on February 1, 1941 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Jane was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. James Robert Geurin. From a very young age, she was exposed to both music and sports which would be life long loves.

In 1954 the Geurin Family would move to Graham, Texas where Jane would attend Graham Junior High School and First Baptist Church. Brother Hubert Foust baptized her that same year. She was a Graham High School graduate in the Class of 1959 where she was very actively involved in Student Council. Following graduation Jane attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from McMurry University, Abilene. In 1961 Jane and Dennis Bell of Portland, Oregon would marry at Fairview Baptist Church in Wichita Falls. They recently celebrated their sixty-third anniversary. Members of Pioneer Baptist Church, Jane especially loved the fellowship of her Sunday School Class. She volunteered supporting the Abilene Philharmonic in the years that her husband, Dennis, was a violinist. Jane most loved being a stay at home mother to their daughters, Dede and Pam. In later years, Jane relished the delightful arrival of grandchildren, then great-grandchildren. She became an avid fan of Abilene Wylie baseball and tennis programs and the Lindsay Knights yet always continuing to check on Graham Steers football scores. So, from the time that Jane was a junior majorette in her Daddy’s band back in Van Buren, Arkansas to these past few days, Jane was cheering on every sports team on television. Southern Bleacher Company was in her blood and she continued to follow the Company’s progress and kept her ties with Hub Machine & Tool.

Jane is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughter Denise Carolyn Bell Lemen and husband, Mitch of Abilene; daughter, Pamela Lynn Bell Horn and husband, Dr. John of Gainesville; granddaughter, Taylor Horn Anderson and husband, Jared of Abilene; Grandson Blake Lemen and wife, Erica of Austin; John Geren Horn and wife, Jensen of College Station; Brady Lemen and wife, Meagan of Abilene; great-grandchildren Milo Anderson, Avery Jane Anderson, Heidi Lemen, Hudson Lemen, and Piper Lemen; sister, Jo Ann Geurin Thetford of Graham; nephew Garrett Pettus and wife, Julie of Graham; nephew Wyatt Pettus and wife, Kristina of Graham; great-nephews Geurin Pettus and Wyatt Z Pettus; great-nieces Olivia Pettus, Jensen Pettus and Ella Pettus.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Ann and Jim Geurin and brother-in-law, Kenneth Thetford.

Those desiring to honor Jane’s memory can donate to a charity dear to their hearts. The Family expresses appreciation for the care of Jane to Natasha Castro, the most loving Caregiver in the world. Natasha was absolutely tireless in her care and love.
