Jessie Ellen Hughes, 94, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 in Abilene. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Newcastle with Pastor Jessie Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Newcastle Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Jessie was born June 27, 1917 in Newcastle, Texas to the late Joshua Ed and Laura Amanda Gilbert Webb. She married Johnnie Darrell Hughes, June 12, 1937 in Newcastle. He preceded in death on October 4, 1983. Jessie was a member of Newcastle First Baptist Church and a Homemaker.
Survivors include; daughter, Jane Palivec of Abilene; son, Jay Hughes of Grapevine; four grandchildren, Kevin Palivec of Hawley, Shelley Vasquez of Arlington, Jason Hughes of Wichita Falls, and Samantha Hughes of Graham; nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Hughes, five brothers, and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
The Family will be at Morrison Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet friends.
