Jewel Willis Abbott of Graham, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2019 in Graham. Funeral services will be Friday, December 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. She was born Jan. 23, 1930 in Graham to the late James and Geneva Sweeney. She graduated from Graham High School and married Kenneth Willis on Feb. 14, 1948. She and Ken raised their two boys, Don and Barry, in Odessa and Seminole. After Ken’s death, she returned to Graham. There she met and married Nathan Abbott on Feb. 6, 1993 and he preceded her in death March 1, 2019. She was an outstanding cook and took great pleasure in feeding family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of joy for her, and she spent many hours reading to a lapful of kids. She was a longtime member of the first Baptist Church in Graham and Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her son Don Willis and wife Lynda of The Woodlands and son Barry Willis and wife Suzanne of Perryton, step-daughter Martha Barron and husband Dick of Fort Worth. Grandchildren are Cory Willis and wife Erin; Sara Spence; Charlotte Willis and husband Tony DiPiazza. Step-grandchildren are Mike Barron, Neeley Reed, and Tracey Mowrey. Great grandchildren are Ethan, Elizabeth, Sebastian and Evelyn Willis; Alex, Mitchell and Ben Clayton; and Gabriel Willis DiPiazza. Her brothers and sisters are Herb Sweeney and wife Joyce, Kathy Alexander and husband Kenny, Neal Sweeney and wife Diane, Dale Sweeney and wife Ann, and Gail Lasater and husband Wesley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her brother Jim Sweeney, sister Claudia Stapp, grandson Dean Allen Willis and step-daughter, Cathy Mowrey and husband Troy. Memorial donations may be made to the Dean Allen Willis Foundation, P.O. Box 1046, Perryton, TX 79070 or to one’s favorite charity. Many heartfelt thanks go to her dedicated caregivers and to Solaris Hospice. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
