Jimmy Lee Hogan, 79, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in Graham. Celebration of life will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Jimmy was born November 26, 1944 in Bristow, Oklahoma to the late Virgil and Lois (Cook) Hogan. They moved from Oklahoma to Ranger in 1957, and then to Graham in 1960 where he started Graham High School his sophomore year. He lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He walked on basketball in Tarleton State for 3 years. Jimmy graduated in 1963 from Graham High School, received his bachelors from Tarleton State College in 1967, and later his masters in administration in Education from Tarleton State College in 1976. He married Jane (Moody) Hogan in Graham on December 28, 1977 in Graham. His first job was at Garland High School in Texas where he taught History and coached boys football and basketball. He then taught at Graham High School, left and taught at Breckenridge High School and then back to Graham High School. When he returned to Graham High School, he coached girls basketball and was the first to coach the girls softball teams! He was also on the coaching staff of the baseball and football teams at Graham High School! He loved his family, coaching and teaching, his cattle and land, his lake house, playing fast pitch softball all over the country, hunting, fishing, playing golf, water skiing, the Cowboys, the Rangers, and The Texas Longhorns! But most of all he loved his wife Jane who did all this with him!
Survivors include: wife, Jane Hogan of Graham; sister, Dorthy Burns of California; sister-in-law, Ruth Hogan Neal of Irving; stepchildren, Rusty Spring and wife, Lynda of Graham and Patti Spring Hornsey of Graham; grandchildren, Chance Hornsey and Kristin Spring; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Jimmy.
He was preceded in death by brother, Rayburn Hogan, sisters, Betty and Helen McElreath, stepson, Moody Spring, nephew, Steve Hogan, and niece, Sharon Johnson.
