Joan Brooks

Joan Brooks, 79, of Abilene, Texas passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 in Abilene. A graveside funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham, Texas with Randy Branson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Graham, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Joan was born October 31, 1930 in Levelland, Texas to the late William Travis and Bernice Louise (George) Spivey. She married Russell Thurman Brooks, SR. on January 1, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church in Graham. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2009. Joan was a member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Abilene. She was a Deacon of the Westminister Presbyterian Church and active with the Meals on Wheels while living in Odessa. Before retirement she was active in the everyday operation of Russell's business, Service Technician Company Incorporated in Odessa.

Survivors: daughter, Beth Delz of Abilene, son, Russell Brooks, JR. of Poolville, brother, Bruce Spivey of Graham, four grandchildren, Chelsea and Lauren Delz, Stephen and Kayla Brooks.
