Joan Myrtle Cook

Joan Myrtle Cook, 81, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Possum Kingdom Lake. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Veal Creek Cemetery in Stephens County under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Joan was born February 1, 1935 in Gorman to the late Willie Clifton and Martha Rena (Gann) Thomas. She married Leo Harlin Cook July 3, 1957 in Rotan. Joan moved to Possum Kingdom Lake in 1979 from Bridge City and worked for H&R Block where she was the manager at Graham, Jacksboro, and Olney offices for 30 plus years. She was a member of Westside Ladies Club and MENSA.

Survivors include: husband, Leo Cook of Possum Kingdom Lake; daughter, Letha Stone of Possum Kingdom Lake; sons, Dwaine Cook and Bert Cook and wife, Mary all of Possum Kingdom Lake; sister, Tommie Underwood of Wylie; brother, Bob Thomas of Celeste; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Jerry Houghton and Francis Hariman.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
