Joe M. Baggett, 85, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at his home. Funeral service is scheduled Friday, April 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Reverend Richard Segars officiating. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Joe was born February 10, 1925 in Stephens County, Texas to the late Raymond Evander and Hattie Viola (Briden) Baggett. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Concorde during World War II. Joe married Ona Pearl Cook, June 1, 1946 in Breckenridge, Texas. He retired from Community Public Service Gas after 41 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Joe was active in Babe Ruth Baseball and a Volunteer Fireman for the City of Graham for 31 years.
Survivors include; wife, Ona Pearl Baggett of Graham; daughters, Kathy Funk of Fort Worth and Susan Joplin, and husband, Jamie of Graham; sons, Jody Baggett, Jr. and wife, Rachel of Fort Collins, CO. and Royce Baggett and wife, Linda of Graham; brothers, Clifford Baggett and wife, Sharon of Weatherford and Bobby Baggett and wife, Alene of Breckenridge; sister, Pat Higgins of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Rodney Baggett and two brothers, Milford and Maurice Baggett.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
