John Walter Criswell, 64, died August 25, 2014, in Leander. He was born June 10, 1950, in Lampasas to Walter A. and Lou W. (Childress) Criswell. Services will be held December 31, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the DFW National Cemetery.
He began his education at La Martenerie AFB (France) and graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene, TX, in 1968.He was active in various activities, was an Eagle Scout and member of Order of the Arrow.He attended Texas A&M before enlisting in the Army. After his discharge, he attended UT-Austin where he received a BS in Anthropology. He reenlisted in the Army and served in Germany during the Cold War for both enlistments. He retired from IBM Jan. 31, 2014, after 32 years of service.
He is survived by his mother Lou Criswell of Graham; 2 sisters, Carol Turner and husband Rev. Gary of Fort Worth and Ann Criswell of Graham; 2 nephews, 2 nieces and their husbands, and 2 great nephews.
