John Conyers Dowdle

John Conyers Dowdle, 84, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Agape United Methodist Church of Lubbock with Dr. Don Holladay, pastor, officiating.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham, Texas. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Graham.

John was born November 24, 1928, to William and Tess Dowdle in Graham. He grew up in Graham and graduated from Graham High School in 1946. In 1950 he graduated from Texas Tech University. He was proud to be a Saddle Tramp. John married Estelle Cusenbary of Graham on June 9, 1951, in Alexandria, Virginia, where he was stationed at Fort Belvoir for two years.
John was a sales representative for the Waples-Platter Companies for many years in the Ranch Style Beans Division. He was a long-time member of Agape United Methodist Church of Lubbock, where he served in several capacities in his younger years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Estelle Dowdle of Lubbock, and his son Bill Dan Dowdle and wife Lauren of Monument, Colorado, and his daughter Diane and husband Don Bottoni of Lubbock, Texas, grandchildren Paul Bottoni and wife Madeline of Dallas, Texas, Levi Dowdle, John Bottoni and wife Kristie, and Matt Bottoni and wife Kelly, all of Lubbock, and great-grandson Justice Bottoni of Lubbock.
