John Nolen Hatler

John Nolen Hatler formerly of Graham, Texas passed away at the age of 98 in Stafford, Texas, Sunday, March 29, 2015. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, Texas.  A Masonic Burial Service will follow at the Archer City Cemetery in Archer City, Texas. Arrangements are under the supervision of Morrison Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Hatler was born on November 1, 1916 in Gallatin, Tennessee to the late Ben and Mamie Hatler. He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife Edna Louise (Lou) Hatler and daughter Janice Camille Deer of Austin, Texas. Upon his retirement of 31 years from the Missouri Pacific Railroad, John and Lou moved from Barbers Hill, Texas to Loving, Texas in 1978, and later moved into Graham, residing at 1516 Mimosa Circle Drive until Mrs. Hatler’s passing in 2013. 

 

John was a member of the Graham and Loving Masonic Lodges where he held several offices during the 30 year period he was a member. He was also a Shriner at Mascat Temple in Wichita Falls and a Jester during this period. John and Lou were members of the Cowboy Church of Young County, however, John regularly attended services held by the First Colony Church of Christ while residing in Stafford.

 

He is survived by his daughter Sherry Cope of Sugar Land, Texas, his grandchildren: John Scott of Friendswood, Texas, Stacy Benton of Houston, Texas, Douglas Fuqua, Jr. of Sugar Land, Texas and Troy Scott of Cold Springs, Texas. He also is survived by nine (9) great grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday evening, April 1 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
