Jowell Sloan Bailey, 73, of Possum Kingdom Lake passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Riley pastor of West Lake Chapel at Possum Kingdom Lake officiating. Burial will follow at Veale Creek Cemetery in Stephens County under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Jowell was born June 16, 1937 in Breckenridge, Texas to the late George Newton and Nancy Rachel "Granny" (Jones) Bailey. He was former owner and operator of Bailey's Camp, Phantom Hollow Marine and a master boat mechanic at Possum Kingdom Lake. Jowell was past president of the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce and received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Survivors: daughter, Karen Bunch and husband Jay of Cisco, son, Mark Bailey and wife Becky of Graford, grandchildren, Stacy Jobe of Stephenville, Wendy Jordan and husband Jeremie of Washington State, Chris Barker and wife Denise of Mineral Wells, great grandchildren, Ramsey and Addison Jordan of Washington State, Zachary Elliott of Milsap, Dalton Barker and wife Cary Ann of Mineral Wells, and Kristan Barker of Mt. Vernon. Jowell was preceded in death by a son, James Sloan Bailey in 1965 and a brother George Bailey JR.
Memorials may be made to the Young County Humane Society.
Visitation will be Monday 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
