Jozelle was born May 17, 1914 in Bomarton, Texas in Baylor County to the late George Worth Pritchard and Carrie Martin Pritchard. She married Byron Matthews, November 30, 1945 in San Antonio. She was preceded in death by the Honorable Judge Matthews, November 3, 2006 and her daughter Jerry Ann Portwood Taylor on February 29, 2012. Jozelle had moved to Graham in 2006 to be near her daughter and son in law Dutch Taylor.
Jozelle was the epitome of a lady, a devoted wife, mother and caring friend. Regardless of what she had to do she always had her hair, nails and appearance to perfection with a smile on her face. She was the glue that held her whole family together and she never turned down the opportunity to help her family or friends.
She was the tireless supporter of her famous daughter by accompanying her in her trick riding and cutting horse career that took them all over the U.S. and Europe. Then Jozelle stood beside her husband during his illustrious career with his law practice and during his tenure as a District Court Judge in Ft. Worth. Their Stock Show parties were infamous and their guest list was a Who's Who of Cowboys to City Leaders.
Jozelle was a longtime resident of Fort Worth where she was a member of the American Red Cross, Arlington Women's Club of Tarrant County, Law Wives Club of Tarrant County, Ridglea Country Club, Fort Worth Petroleum Club, National Cutting Horse Association, The Fort Worth Stock Show and a tireless volunteer to numerous charities. Jozelle was a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
