Judy Leah Burgess

Judy Leah Burgess, 71, went to meet her heavenly father and her heavenly family on Monday, April 4, 2022.

Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, April 11, 2022, in Tonk Valley Cemetery in Graham, Texas.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-5 pm at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham, Texas.  In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to the SPCA.

Judy was born August 23, 1950, in Olney, Texas to Edgar McCarty and Thelma Louis Lindley McCarty.  She graduated from WTAMU with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree from UT Arlington.  Judy retired as a supervisor from CPS. Judy enjoyed tending to her plants, however her heart belonged to her three dogs, Pippy, Bella, and Lady Bug.  She loved and cared for her nieces and nephews as they were her own.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Thelma McCarty; brother, James McCarty; nephews, James Dudley, Jr., Jack McCarty; niece, Janice McCarty. 

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Allen Burgess of Stamford, Texas; step-son, Al Burgess; sister, Janie Dudley and husband James, Sr.; sister-in-laws, Polly Burgess Swearingen and Shelia McCarty; nieces and nephews, Emily Dudley, Jessica Moore and husband Tyler, John McCarty and wife Terry, Jeff McCarty and wife Olivia, John McCarty and wife Kristen, Joshua McCarty and wife Kylie; Jason McCarty and wife Lindsey, Jared McCarty, Journey McCarty, Kristen Spurlin and husband Kyle, Ethan McCarty, Jennifer Jacobs and husband Tim, Jaclin McCarty, Tiffany Saxon and husband Colton, Aden Moore, Trey Dudley; and a host of extended family.
