June James Burns, 80, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 in Carrollton. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
June was born December 8, 1931 in Schwartz, Louisiana to the late Whitley E. James and Ora F. (Walker) James.
Her formative years were lived in Louisiana and California. Her life was devoted to homemaking, child rearing, and church activities. She had a lifelong love of music, expressed in singing, leading youth and adult choirs, piano playing, and just listening. She also taught Bible classes, held various leadership positions in the Baptist Church, and served a term as Trustee of California Baptist University.
June always assumed that everyone liked and loved her, unless they proved differently. She was of a happy and loving nature, and consistent to forgive the imperfections of others.
She married Vernon M. Burns in 1952, and this union produced two children (Patricia Burns of Lewisville, Texas, and Gerald Burns, of Dallas, Texas), five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. All of this family survive, as do a sister in California and a brother in Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents the three brothers.
Although her final years were dominated by Alzheimer's disease, she continues to occupy a special place in her family and with many friends. She is, and will, continue to be greatly missed.
