On Saturday October 10, 2009, June Iris Rascoe of Graham, Texas passed away at the age of 79. She died peacefully at Graham Regional Hospital with her son William Plaster by her side.
June was born on July 11, 1930 in Olney, Texas and grew up in Bryson, before finally settling in Red Oak. She was a shy, petite, soft-spoken woman with a true pioneer spirit. She became the first female truck driver for Safeway. Her friends and co-workers will always remember hearing "Junebug" over the CB radio.
Our sweet June truly loved being part of her family's lives. She was always available to listen or help and freely gave her love. She will be deeply missed.
June is survived by her son and daughter-in-law William and Valerie Plaster of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Saundra and Steve Mayhall of Abilene; grandchildren, Julie, Zack, Will, Chance, Jenny, Coby, Josh, and Bo; great grandchild, Olivia; brother, Walter (Pinky) Austin of Graham and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
June was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Dal Austin and sister, Pasty Jan Holman.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham.
