Kathy Pierce

Kathy Pierce, age 80, passed away at her home in Graham on Sunday, October 9, 2022. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 in  Morrison Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Kathy was born on August 23, 1942 in Gorman, TX to the late A.B. Cornelius Sr. and Julia Kathleen (Brandenburg) Cornelius. She married Thomas Pierce on October 28, 1961 in Graham.

Kathy graduated from Graham High School in 1960. She studied at Baylor University and Texas Christian University. Kathy was a long-time member of Abundant Life Center, where she played piano and taught Sunday school. She was an extraordinary Bible teacher. Studying and memorizing the Bible were passions of hers. She was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary, where she served 42 years helping to share the word of God. Kathy loved everyone, and she was loved by all who knew her. She saw the best in everyone and loved to encourage and comfort others.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Tom Pierce of Graham; daughters, Julie Pierce Saunders and husband Brian of Graham, and Dena Pierce Ligon and husband Michael of Graham; grandchildren, Brittany Smyers and husband Jacob, Noelle Dooley and husband Cody, Kathleen Villarreal and husband Andrew, Hope Ligon and fiancé Ardell Howard, Nicolas Saunders and fiancé Audry Garcia, Victoria Blaine and husband Trent, and Rachel Ligon; and great grandchildren, Madi, Jace, Railynn, Justin, Leighton, Connor, and Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, A.B. Cornelius Jr. and his wife, Peggy Cornelius, and grandson, Matthew Ligon.
