Kathryn Lou Ward, 75, of Graham passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of April 29, 2024. Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 2 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.
Kathy was born on March 15, 1949 to Kinneth and Lois (Hall) Burk in Graham, Texas. She graduated from Graham High School in 1967, then attended Cisco Junior College for one year. She married the love of her life, Billy Harold Ward, on May 10, 1969. Together, they had one son, T.J. Ward, of whom they were incredibly proud.
Kathy was a homemaker who delighted in being a wife and a mother. She loved children, and worked as a gymnastics coach in the early 1980’s. She then provided childcare for Nicholas and Caitlin Hobson (Hughes). For a short time, she worked with her husband as a secretary for Texas Almet in Arlington. After raising her Sweet Baby T.J., and losing her beloved Billy Ward, she worked for several years at Fuel Mart convenience store, where she enjoyed interacting with customers and making friends. Later, Kathy helped her niece by working in her bakery.
Kathy loved sports. She was an excellent athlete in her younger years. She enjoyed watching all women's sports, especially softball. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan, and she loved her Texas Rangers. If she was watching t.v., she was usually watching sports.
She was an excellent cook, like her mother before her. She had a soft spot for the elderly, and shared many special friendships with elder neighbors, family members and loved ones. She was lovingly known by her family as Sissy. She adored all of her family, and always took an interest in what and how they were doing. Most of all, she loved being a Nammy to her precious granddaughter, Charlea Ward, and her bonus grandchildren.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Ward, her parents, Kinneth and Lois Burk, and a brother, Zack Burk.
She is survived by one son, T.J. Ward, and wife, Alisha of Graham, her brother, Robert Burk and wife, Paula of Graham, half-sisters, Sandra, Peggy, and Sharon, her granddaughter, Charlea Ward, of Mineral Wells, her bonus grandchildren, Heather, Jared, and Kody, her bonus great-grandchildren, Wesley and Bryson, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Kathy will be remembered for her toughness, her undying love for her entire family, her fun-loving personality, and her wonderful laugh.
Memorials can be made to Graham Youth Softball c/o Graham Little League, P.O. Box 694, Graham, Texas 76450. Please write Kathy Ward, Softball in the memo.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
