Kenneth Gerald McGee

Kenneth Gerald McGee, 85, passed away at his home, Friday, December 9, 2011. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Ray, pastor of Jean United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Red Top Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born August 26, 1926 in Graham to the late Orus Lane and Lena Henrietta (Petty) McGee. He served as a paratrooper in the United States Army 11th Airborne Division from 1944 to 1946. Kenneth married Bonnie Rothell, December 3, 1955 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Kenneth was a farmer and rancher in Young County most of his life. He was a member of Jean United Methodist Church and Loving Masonic Lodge #917.

Survivors include; wife, Bonnie McGee of Jean; son, Russell O. McGee and wife Karmen of Bryan; daughter, DeRenda McGee Phenow and husband Ken of St. Gabriel, LA.; grandchildren, Molly, Betsy, Hayley, and Matthew McGee, Joe and Mary Sue Phenow; brothers, Glynn McGee of Henderson, Darrell McGee of Red Top, and Gary McGee of Olney; sister, Mary Evelyn McCanlies of Littlefield.

Kenneth was preceded in death by a sister, ElWanda Nall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Solaris Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
