La Vera B. Roberts

La Vera B. Roberts, 95, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Olney. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

She was born March 21, 1917 in Deleon, Texas to Lee Jeffery Parker and Allie Laura Kee.
She spent her early years in Spur, Texas where she attended school at Espuela School.
She was a homemaker and raised her family in Dickens County for over 60 years, but lived her remaining years in Young County.

While living in Graham, Mrs. Roberts participated in the Senior Citizens Band and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In 2004, she moved to Olney and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She lived at Olney Healthcare Center since November 2009.

She loved to quilt and make crafts but some of her best times were playing cards and domino games with family and friends and attending Musicals in the surrounding area.

Mrs. Roberts is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Allie Parker, daughter NorVada Nichols, sisters Thelma Williamson, Iva Rankin, brothers, Henry Parker, Eldred Parker, Aaron Parker, Wendell Parker, grandson Terry Lynn Nichols and a great- grandson Brandon Orr.

She is survived by one son Harley G. Bingham and wife Nancy of Lubbock, Texas, two daughters, Robbie Strawn and husband Maurice of Richmond, Texas, Patsy Williams of Lobelville, Tennessee, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
