Lassie Faye Mayes

Lassie Faye Mayes, 100, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at her daughter's home in Midland. Funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Dempsey of Madill, OK officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral home.

Mrs. Mayes was born September 17, 1908 in Huffstuttle, Young County, Texas to the late James Albert and Cynthia Francis (Taylor) Moreland. She married Joseph William "Joe" Mayes April 25, 1934 in Young County. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1991. Lassie was a housewife, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a member of Wilshire Park Baptist Church in Midland.

Survivors include her son, Tommy Joe and wife Carolyn; Mary Glenn and husband Jack Tatsch all of Midland; 4 grandchildren: Darren Mayes and wife Kimberly of Monticello, Arkansas, Joe Tatsch and wife Dawn of Tioga, Steve Mayes and wife Laura of Tyler, and Pam Simpson and husband Jeff of Odessa; 9 great-grand children: Josh Simpson, Bethany Mayes, Lacey Simpson, James Tatsch, Grace Simpson, Peyton Mayes, Jared Tatsch, Emily Tatsch, and Huston Mayes, and many nieces and nephews.
