Linda Kay Sims, age 74, passed away in Graham on Sunday, June 4, 2023. A private family service will be held in Colorado.
Linda was born on July 18, 1948 in Graham to John William McCoy and Helen Louise (Graham) McCoy.
Linda was a devoted educator, spending more than 35 years in the profession. A 1969 graduate of the University of Houston, she started her teaching career in La Marque, Texas. After she married Ron, they moved to the Western Slope of Colorado where Ron was raised. She began teaching in Montrose, Colorado where her father-in-law taught her to drive a school bus for the local system. The family returned to Graham in 1973 and Linda taught in the Graham ISD until her retirement in spring 2001. She came out of retirement in fall 2006 to teach first grade at Open Door Christian School and then served as the principal from June 2007 to May 2010. Teaching was the true joy of her life.
Linda is survived by her husband, Ron Sims of Graham; daughter, Ronda Rose and husband Allen of Graham; son, Scott Moore and wife Brandi of Glen Rose; grandchildren, Andy Rose, Maddie Williams and husband Jacob, Josh Rose and wife Savannah, Marc Moore, and Maggie Moore; and sibling Jere Curlee.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Alyssa Jean Moore.
