Clarence Evans, 90, of Graham, Texas passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 in Graham. Funeral will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Rock Creek Cemetery in Rock Creek, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Clarence was born September 27, 1923 in Rock Creek, Texas to the late James B. and Ceilia Elizabeth (Estes) Evans. He moved to Mineral Wells, Texas when he was thirteen months old. Clarence went to school in Minerals Wells and after finishing high school he joined the United States Air Force. He served during World War II and was a tail gunner on a B29. Clarence saw action and received several medals and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. After World War II he married Allene Bullard in Odessa, Texas on June 1, 1946. Clarence and Allene moved to Graham in 1976. Clarence was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, taught the Junior High boy's Sunday school class, and served on many committees. He retired from Chevron as production superintendent after 37 1/2 years. Clarence was a charter member of the Lake Country RV Club.
Survivors include: wife of 68 years, Allene Evans of Graham, sons; Danny Evans of San Marcos, and Don Evans and wife Peggy of Graham, granddaughters, Quencee Evans-Brown of Houston, Wendy Cain of Austin and Heather Shaffer of Farmington, NM; great grandchildren, Jordan Evans, Chase Tucker of Farmington, Brittany and Kendall Cain of Austin, Madisyn and Paityn Schafer of Farmington; great great grandchildren, Corey Scott and Lila Evans of Farmington; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
