Mary Lou Cook, (MeMaw), 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 after a long, courageous battle against cancer. She is now at rest in the presence of her Lord Jesus whom she loved and served faithfully all the days of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Nickel and Reverend Richard Segars officiating. Burial will follow in Gooseneck Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Mary Lou was born December 29, 1935 in Loving, Texas to the late Alfred Washington and Una Lee (Baker) Dickson. She married Lonnie Cook, June 8, 1953 in Graham and they enjoyed a long and beautiful marriage of 44 years. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1998. Mary Lou was a retired legal secretary and was a former secretary for Stivers, Inc. working the oil and gas industry. Mary Lou was an accomplished pianist. She began playing the piano at the age of 5 and played faithfully to the glory of the lord all of her life. She was the church pianist at First Baptist Church, Graham for 58 years and brought joy to many people with her playing. Mary Lou was Lion's Club Sweetheart in Graham for 46 years and her piano playing for the Lion's Club was a joy to many as well. Mary Lou loved to travel, she took many trips with friends, family, and her church family over the years. Family was always very important to Mary Lou. Family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas will always be treasured by her family.
Survivors include; son, Mark Cook and wife Patti of Mansfield; daughter, Cheryl Dooley and husband Wayne of Graham; grandchildren, Corey Dooley and wife Tracy of Graham, Cody Dooley of Graham; Cara Cilione and husband Angelo of Lewisville, and Ryan Cook of Mansfield; great grandchildren, Hunter Dooley of Graham and Kole Cilione of Lewisville.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by a brother Larry Dickson.
