Mary Louise Shabay

Mary Louise Shabay, 94, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in Graham. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James C. Hill and Gary Tull officiating. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Mary was born on April 8, 1915 in Loving to the late Lee Lacy and Alice (Carmack) Mayes. She was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army and a military nurse. Mary moved to Graham in 1952 from Jacksboro. She married Pete Shabay on October 15, 1952 in Graham. Mary was a member of the Silas Morton Chapter DAR, VFW #8567, and the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: husband, Pete Shabay of Graham; son, Petie Shabay and wife Joanie of Weatherford; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, Robert, and Lee Lacy Mayes and sisters, Agnes Patrick, Maybelle Herring, and Marjorie Moore.
