Maxine LaDon Mayo, 89, passed away Sunday December 1, 2024. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2024 at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Loving Cemetery.
Maxine was born June 10, 1935 in Broken Bow, OK. to the late Edna Roberta (Clark) Jones and Malcolm Mayo Johnson. She married Lawson Mayo December 17, 1954 in Galena Park, TX.
Maxine was a Housewife and a member of the Loving Highway Church of Christ. She served as a minister’s wife in New England, Wyoming, California, New Mexico, and 30 years in Australia, where she wrote and edited two Christian papers for women, “Woman to Woman” and "Heart to Heart”. She loved to travel and visited all 49 States, and all Continents except Antarctica. After retirement she and Lawson returned to Loving, Texas where their ministry began.
Survivors include; husband, Lawson Mayo of Loving; daughters, Donna Elliott and husband Don of Belton, Carol Roberts and husband Ronnie of Antlers, OK.; sons, Bruce Mayo and wife Debbie of Plainfield, IN., Michael Mayo and wife Lu of Chiang Mai, Thailand; grandchildren, LaDonna, Jeremiah, Joshua, Jonathan, Nathan, Jonathan, Joshua, Miles, Shaphan, and Rebekah; great grandchildren, Ethan, Colton, Rebekah, Gideon, Shane, Haylee, Benjamin, Patience, Austin, Ava, Haleigh, Heidi, Emma, Lyla.
Family Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
