Mazelle Askew Burgess

Mazelle Askew Burgess, 99, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 in Graham. Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Veal Creek Cemetery in Stephens County. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Mazelle was born July 3, 1916 in Graham to the late James Albert and Lottie Ann (Ribble) Askew. She married Ben Burgess December 23, 1933 in Albany and he preceded her in death May 17, 1992. Mazelle was a homemaker and a member of Bunger Church of Christ.

Survivors include: daughter, Marilyn K. Burgess and Ed Lanford of Fort Worth; daughter-in-law, Betty Burgess of Graham; grandsons, Sim Burgess and wife, Dana, Will Burgess, Ben Ed Burgess, and John Burgess all of Graham; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Burgess of Lubbock, Ben Burgess, Becca Burgess, Jessica Burgess, and McKinley Roxie Burgess all of Graham; nieces and a nephew also survive.

She was preceded in death by son, Bill Burgess and sisters, Lorene Stone and Ruth West Duke.

Family visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Burgess Barn in Bunger.
