Melvin McClaran, 102, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in Graham. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Melvin was born May 10, 1913 in Swenson to the late William Otha and Annie Franklin (Wright) McClaran. He married Pearline Bowers September 24, 1935. She preceded him in death March 24, 1964. He married Kathleen McLeroy September 24, 1964 in Clovis, New Mexico. Melvin moved to Graham in 1965 from Plainview. He was a farmer and rancher and a member of the Church of Christ. He was formerly a Health Inspector for Graham and Lake Patrol at Lake Graham.
Survivors include: wife, Kathleen McClaran of Graham; son, Kenneth McClaran and wife, Betty of Bryan; daughter-in-laws, Sue McClaran of Farwell and Monta Marshall of Roaring Springs; step-son, Rudy Dye of Waco; grandchildren, Kevin McClaran and wife, Tracie of Lorenzo, Kay McClaran Miller and husband, Ford of Lockney, Stephen McClaran and wife, Lea of Bryan, Greg McClaran and wife, Kelly of Argyle, Kim McClaran McArthur and husband, David of Farwell, and Lance McClaran and wife, Trisha of Farwell, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sons, Jerry and Wayne McClaran, granddaughter, Kellie Sue McClaran, and brothers, Lawrence, Billy, and Norman McClaran.
Family visitation will be held Friday from 12:30 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
