Mike Ritchey

William Michael Ritchey, 71, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024 at Possum Kingdom Lake. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the Possum Kingdom Lake Chamber of Commerce.

 Mike was born June 6, 1953 in Casa Grande, Arizona to the late William Wayne and Beatrice (Benaventes) Ritchey. He grew up in Arizona and loved the desert. He said Texas was the next best thing. He was an electrician by trade but worked for the BRA 1982-2013 as the maintenance supervisor. Mike loved to hunt and fish. He was Hells Gate Bass Club Angler of the year in 1993. He loved gardening. Even till the end he had a few plants on his porch and sent many pictures of his “crops”. He was always up for a game of poker or a wager on a sports game. Forever asking for that 2 point spread and avid pool player in his younger days, he often bragged about beating Sandra Day O’Conners brother in several games. He loved being with all of his family but his great grandson Whitten was his pride and joy. They had a very special relationship which included the “Poopaw/great grandson exemption“ so they could get away with their shenanigans. 

 Survivors include: daughter, Danielle Smith-David of Idabel, Oklahoma; son, Levi Ritchey of Graford, Tx brother, Nick Ritchey of Farmington, New Mexico; grandchildren, Hunter Bray-Kenji Thomas and Cydnee Benson-Kolton; great grandson, Whitten Benson, all of Idabel, Oklahoma.
