Murvin Ray Rogers, born September 2, 1937, a beloved husband, father, and Pappy, left his life on earth and was greeted by Jesus into his eternal life in Heaven on May 27, 2024. Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 2 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Private burial for immediate family will follow in Pioneer Cemetery.
As a young man, Murvin worked for Crabtree and Pickard Well Service for many years and eventually became the new owner, naming the company M.R. Rogers Well Service. He always said he wouldn't want to do anything else but work in the oil field. He took great pride in his work, and those who knew him well knew that Murvin was a man who was honest, truthful, and trustworthy, and knew also that his word was as good as gold.
Murvin found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed sitting on the back porch of his home, the vacations to Colorado in his younger years with his young family, sleeping near the window of his home so that he could see the stars and the moon, and seeing the wildflowers that grew so beautifully in the spring. He appreciated a simple meal, a good fire in the fireplace, and he loved his family most of all.
He helped arrange and support many of the local jamborees in and about the Graham area, and played his guitar while accompanied by his wife on drums. He was known for his self taught ability to play the guitar, and his style was much like that of his favorite musician, Hank Snow. Many of those who heard him play would comment that no one could play the guitar like Murvin! He always looked forward to the jamborees so that he could play and be with his friends.
Murvin is survived by his wife, Patricia Gayle Rogers, his son, Monte Rogers and his wife Pam, his daughter Pamela Rogers, grandson Matthew Rogers and his partner in life, Haley Loper, and great granddaughter Ruby, grandson Davis Rogers, his sisters Bonnie, Lola, Carolyn, and Linda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send a special thank you to all the staff at Trinity House and Beyond Faith Hospice here in Graham for all their love, compassion and care for Murvin in his final days. The love he received there was beyond imagination. They comforted us all as a family and they are without a doubt, truly angels on earth.
"They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint."
