Myrl Garvey, 75, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in Dallas. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Nickel, Reverend James C. Hill, and Dr. Mark Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Farmer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Myrl was born February 24, 1936 in Loving to the late William Samuel and Avis Myrl (Pierce) Hawkins. She was saved at the age of 9 in the Loving Methodist Church. She graduated from Graham High School in 1954 and attended Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. She married Joe Dale Garvey, June 13, 1959 in Graham. Myrl retired as office manager for an oil business after 20 years. She also retired from Farm Bureau Insurance after 18 years. Myrl was an active member of First Baptist Church serving as Sunday School Adult director, Junior High Sunday School department director, coordinator for Adult 4 Sunday School Class, former choir member, Women on Mission Church Director 1995-2001, 2006-2010, former director of Area Baptist WMU. Myrl participated in personal mission trips to Brazil, Australia, and Spain. She was a charter member of Graham Hospital Auxiliary in 1958, charter member of Graham Women's Club where she served as former treasurer and past President 1994-1996, charter member of Old Post Office Museum since 1995, former member of CLSC, former treasurer and past President of Graham Area Church Women.

Survivors include; husband, Joe Garvey of Graham; son, Dale Garvey and wife Sarah of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Christin Garvey, Christal Garvey, Brett Dearman, and Bailey Dearman all of Wichita Falls; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Myrl was preceded in death by a brother, Lindsey B. Hawkins.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Graham Hospital Auxiliary, or charity of choice.

The Family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
