Nelda Rose Akers

Nelda Rose Akers, 80, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014. Funeral service will be Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Murray Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Nelda was born November 24, 1933 in Spring Creek, Texas to the late Gussie Guy and Opal Blanche (Cook) Peacock. She married Fred N. Akers, July 7, 1950 in Graham. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2012. She was a machine operator at GMI for twelve years and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include; daughter, Sue Chapman of Burkburnett; son, Donnie Akers of Clyde; ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; sisters, Reta Roberts of Houston, Gayle Whittlinger of Seattle, WA., and Sherry Pruitt of Eliasville; brothers, Dale Peacock, Curtis Peacock, and Terry Peacock all of Houston.

Nelda was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Akers, a brother, Gilbert Peacock, and a great grandson Shawn Ireland McFadden.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
