Orgie L. Matlock, 92, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 in Graham. A graveside funeral will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Cottonwood Cemetery in Jack County. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Orgie was born October 19, 1918 in Archer County, Texas to the late James Samuel and Abbie Plaster Matlock. He married Vera Nell Harris, March 14, 1946 in Jacksboro. Mr. Matlock served four years in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II in the 959 Air Engineer squadron. Most of that time was spent in North Africa and Italy. He was a farmer and cattle raiser and worked in the oilfield.
Survivors include; wife, Vera Matlock of Graham; daughter, Theresa Haile and husband Gerald of Archer City; four sons, Noble Matlock and wife Cathy of Archer County, J.D. Matlock and wife Donna of Westchester, Ohio, Carl Matlock and wife Jo Nell of Archer County, and Charles Matlock and wife Gracie of Archer County; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; sister, Vada Coleman and husband, Alfred C. of Pilot Point.
Orgie was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Harwell.
Family visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Morrison Funeral Home. The family welcomes your attendance at the prayer service.
