Oweita Wignall

Oweita B. Wignall, 96, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 in Graham. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Oweita was born in Bryson on July 29, 1917 to Syl Vester Vanhooser and Laura (Leedy) Vanhooser. She had 2 brothers and 6 sisters. The family lived in Bryson until she was 11, then her family moved to Graham where she attended Graham High School. She married Thomas Gene Wignall February 10, 1935. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2012. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Graham Hospital Auxiliary and Woman's Club of Graham.

Survivors include: daughters, Jeannine Freeman of Indiana and Sandra Birdwell and husband, Allen of Graham; grandchildren, Joe Gage, Guy Gage, Blake Gage, Kenny Freeman, Kendra Herndon, Jennifer Phillips, and Jeff Birdwell; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
