Patricia Ann Nowakowski, 83, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at her home on Lake Graham. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1 p.m. in Oak Street Baptist Church under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Pat was born August 29, 1940, in Graham to the late Hubert Edward and Eura Belle (Witt) Rodgers. She married Norman Nowakowski on August 23, 1968, in Newcastle, Texas.
Pat was loved by all that knew her. She was a loving wife, mother and Mamaw and made friends everywhere she went. Pat was a lifelong member of Oak Street where she taught the 2-year-old Sunday school class for many years. She could look around a room full of strangers and find the person with the most interesting story and she would know all about them before you could get back to the car! She loved her kids, grandkids and great grands more than she loved a good piece of cake and she LOVED cake! Together Pat and her husband Norman spent 56 years building memories with their friends and family fishing at the coast and hosting large crowds at PK or Lake Graham, it was always a priority that the family have access to “deep blue” water! Pat did everything with passion and joy, she was a real estate agent for Century 21, she ran the Gateway Inn for many years and closed out her working years as the librarian for Lindsay State Jail where she was lovingly referred to as “Gangster Granny”. In 2012 when Pat was diagnosed with breast cancer her faith was never more evident. She was gifted a locket with a mustard seed inside and when her treatment was over she found great joy in sharing that necklace with others facing a road she had already traveled. She believed whole heartedly that if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you can move mountains, and she did every day. To Say her family and friends will miss her is an understatement. She loved the Lord, and early Tuesday morning she met him face to face.
