Paul Lawrence Gittings, age 88, passed away December 22nd in Graham, Texas after a hard fought battle against Alzheimer's disease.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham with interment to follow at Pioneer Cemetery.

Born on December 15, 1922, in Grandfield, Oklahoma, Mr. Gittings was one of 4 children born to Cyrus Ason and Alice Hollister Gittings.

Mr. Gittings married Reba June King on May 15, 1949 in Henrietta, Texas. After initially residing in Grandfield, they relocated to Graham, Texas in 1969 due to a company transfer with Texas Electric, where Mr. Gittings would later retire. Mr. Gittings was also an avid farmer and rancher throughout his life raising cattle and growing cotton and wheat on the family farm in Grandfield.

Mr. Gittings proudly served his country during WWII in the 740 Tank Battalion. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was the recipient of several service medals including a purple heart with oak leaf cluster.

Mr. Gittings is survived by his wife Reba, son Mark of Austin, daughter Gail Glasgow and husband Mark of Floyds Knob, Indiana, son Todd of Cleburne, son Britt and wife Leah of Boyd, grandchildren Brian Gittings, Zachary and Graham Glasgow, Paige, Peyton, Makinley and Madison Gittings and brother Louis of Jacksonville, Florida. He is preceded in death by his son Larry of Weatherford, Oklahoma and grandson Paul of Duncan, Oklahoma as well as his sisters, Hope McConnell and Mary Laudermilk.

The Family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
