Queenell Inona York

Queenell Inona (Melton) York, 97, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018. Visitation will be Tuesday October 16, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral is scheduled Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cottonwood Cemetery in Bryson under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Queenell was born May 28, 1921 in Colony, OK. to the late Horace Arthur (H.A.) and Sarah Annas (Furry) Melton. She married Glen E. York, January 14, 1939 in Friona, TX. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1992. Queenell was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was active in Sunday School, Women's Circle and Church until she was unable to attend due to health issues. She was the Receptionist/Secretary at FPC for many years.

Queenell loved all things beautiful including nature, birds, plants, jewelry, clothes, and decorations in her home. She decorated for most holidays. She worked many places in Graham, but especially loved her job with Home Interiors and Gifts, Inc. where she was employed 15 years. She met some wonderful people, won many prizes and made several trips during this time.

Queenell loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally, but none could compare to the love she had for the Lord. She never stopped reading her Bible and studying always, hungry for the word of God.

She is survived by her sons, Ronnie York and wife Kathy of Denton, Gary York and wife Connie of Graham; daughter, Ann Chenault and husband Kent Winkler of Weatherford.

She will be missed by grandchildren, Jeff York and wife Reva of Rochester, Rowdy York of Graham, Kris York and wife Peggy of Goldwaithe, Jay York and wife Heidi of Round Rock, Clay Chenault of Austin, Clint Chenault of Graham, Ginger York of Denton, and Ronda Barnes and husband Danny of Denton.

Great grandchildren she leaves are Jodi York Calucag and husband Andrew, August Troy, Ty Barnes, Taylor Barnes, Ryder York, Rance York, Rylie York, Preston York, Reid York, Emma York, Levi Chenault and wife, Emily and Kaleigh Chenault.

Queenell also loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren by marriage and association, Emma, Jeffrey, Gatlin, Harrison, and Jaquelin. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who she truly adored.

Those who will meet her at Heaven's door are her husband of 55 years, Glen York, her sisters Alma Fleenor, Veryl Tyson, Ruth Brumley, Loretta Cross and brothers Keith and Wayne Melton. She is also meeting for the first time three brothers and sisters who died in infancy before she was born.

The family wants to say a special thank you to all the staff at Graham Oaks Care Center and Beyond Faith Home Health and Hospice as well as other care givers.
