Ray Dee Monroe

Ray Dee Monroe passed away February 16, 2022. He was 64 years and lived in Jacksboro, Texas. His memorial service will be Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Graham, Texas.

Ray was born in Wichita Falls on June 27, 1957 to the late Rex and Laverne Monroe. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in horticulture. He had a life long love of art and classical music.

Ray volunteered for many years after retiring from Wolfe Nursery at Fort Richardson State Park. Ray began as a historical volunteer and retired as a historical interpreter for the state park. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the local history from the 1860's and 1870's. Ray frequently visited other forts to participate in their re-enactments and living history events.

Ray was preceded in death by an older brother, Thad Monroe in December 2021.

Survivors include siblings Roxane Skipworth, Bob Monroe, and Melissa Thorne.
