Raymond D. Hannah

Raymond D. Hannah, 89, passed away peacefully Monday, March 27, 2017 in Graham.  

Raymond was born December 14, 1927 in Benjamin, Texas to Jim and Effie Hannah.  He was raised in the community of Berwick in Jack County.

Raymond served our nation during the Korean war in the 931st Engineer Aviation Group.  He lived his adult life in Graham as a building contractor.  On September 17, 1948, he married Marie Walker.  Raymond was a man of many passions.  He loved his family and he and Marie raised a son and two daughters.  His children remember always being a part of the family activities including 4H, camping, hunting, and ranching.  Raymond loved and could tell stories about his experiences, coon and deer hunting.  He was a member of First Baptist Church.  He helped construct the building and was a worthy patron of Eastern Star Chapter #668 and a member of Young County Masonic Lodge # 485.  After living in Graham, Raymond spent several years building his dream home near Fort Belknap.  Raymond’s favorite hobby was constructing covered wagons and participating in trail rides.  He was very proud of completing 30 consecutive years of the Graham to Albany trail drive for the annual Fandango celebration.  Raymond’s friends and family, particularly his grandchildren, have many fond memories of these trail drives with their PawPaw.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marie Hannah , son Derrell Hannah of Proffitt, daughters, Anita Miller and husband Kurt of Southlake, Leslie Qualman and husband Al of Arlington, granddaughters, Meredith Miller of Redondo Beach, California, Ashley Rogers and husband Adam of Bentonville, Arkansas, Brooke Qualman of Brooklyn, New York and Haley Qualman of Austin and great granddaughter Isabella Rogers.

Raymond was preceded in death by sisters Mary Lois Hannah, Odessa Hanna, Elzada Stephens, Ora Mae Beavers, brother Eldon Hannah, and grandson Jeff Miller.

The family would like to give a very special thanks to the staff of Beyond Faith, Garden Terrace, and Steve Lubs, family friend, for their loving care of Raymond.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Raymond's name to the Humane Society - Young County.
