Red Collins

Roger Dale "Red" Collins, 63, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 in Wichita Falls. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cowboy Church Gatherin'. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Red was born March 29, 1951 to Albert and Doris Rogers Collins in Vernon. Red was one of 13 children. He married Carolyn Fields Collins in Wichita Falls on August 8, 1970. Together they raised their sons, Roy, Cody, and Curtiss in Graham.

Red loved children and his door was always open to his boys friends and families. He coached his boys in a little league co-ed soccer team and instilled teamwork along with a sense of pride in themselves. Former players still came up to Red and thanked him for the impact that he had on their lives. His love of children continued with his grandchildren. Nothing made him happier then being surrounded by them and listening to their laughter.

Hunting and fishing were passions of Red's. He couldn't wait until opening day of any season and liked to take his grandchildren hunting and telling stories of their hunting prowess. You could find him carrying around pictures of their wildgame accomplishments. Red spent this opening day of deer season doing what he loved, spending it hunting with a grandson. Red liked to take turns taking all his grandchildren hunting.

Red was a member of the Cowboy Church Gatherin' where he was proud to be a part of the church's inception and be a part of the church community. He loved the Lord.

He was a devoted husband to Carolyn, standing strong with her through all of life's difficulties and loving her through sickness and health. He loved his boys and was so proud of the wonderful husbands and fathers that they have become. Above all else, he was everyone's "Grandpa" not only to his own grandchildren, but to all their friends as well. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

Red started his career in plumbing at the age of 17 and was the owner and operator of Red Collins Plumbing.

He is survived by wife, Carolyn Collins of Graham, his children, Roy & Shawna Collins of Graford, Cody & Retta Collins of Wichita Falls, and Curtiss & Brandi Collins of Graham, his twelve grandchildren, Laycee, Raimon, Haley, Mikayla, Preston, Rope, Chelsea, Esmee, Jacob, Payton, Shasta, & Meshell, and three great grandchildren. Siblings, Steve Collins, David & Ann Collins, Connie & Jim Baker, Peggy Waters, Ginger & Ray Wilborn, Ann & Bill Brooking, Nina Fowler, and Elzane & Richard Mackey.
