Rex King

Rex Dale King, 78, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025 in Abilene. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Graham.

Rex was born May 11, 1946 in Hobbs, New Mexico to the late Tomiva and Johnnie Evelyn (Elkins) King. He grew up on a ranch in eastern New Mexico as a cowboy’s cowboy. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. Rex married Sharla Kay Taylor October 12, 1968 in Slaton. He was employed at Harbison-Fischer Pumps for 32 years as District Manager. Rex was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, UIL Coaches Association, West Texas Oil and Gas Association, North Texas Oil and Gas Association, Texas Alliance and the First Presbyterian Church in Graham where he served as a Deacon. He answered to Papaw to his 6 grandchildren he loved deeply.

Survivors include: wife, Sharla King of Graham; sons, Ryan King of Christoval and Regan King and wife, Laura of Abilene; daughter, Cassidy Hodges and husband, Casey of Abilene; grandchildren, Cameron King, Claire King, Carly King, Preston King, Harper Hodges and Bennett Hodges.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or a favorite charity.
