Robert Dean "Bob" Hughes, 81, of Graham, Texas passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00am Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Faith Center Assembly of God with Pastor Ladd Johnston and Charlie Bazan of Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Bob was born August 30, 1930 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to the late William and Twyla (Ellis) Hughes. He married Geraldine "Gerri" Van Haaften on December 20, 1951 in Pella, Iowa. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Graham and Faith Center Assembly of God. Bob was an operating engineer for Industrial Asphalt in Montclair, California for 25 years, former owner and operator of Logans Candy Store, former owner and operator of Taco King Restaurant, He worked for Chicago Title Company and Ticor Title and Insurance Company, and owned and operated a vending company. He was currently employed by Gramco Automotive Parts Company in Graham. During his lifetime Bob was involved in the communities in which he lived. He modeled for fashion shows for fund raisers and enjoyed performing as Santa Claus for children during the Christmas season.
Survivors: wife, Gerri Hughes of Graham, sons, Douglas Craig Hughes and wife Sherry of Claremont, CA., Thomas Lee Hughes and wife Benita of Rancho Cucamonga, CA., sisters, Donna Miller of Urbandale, IA., Kay Gallant of Mechanicsville, VA., brother, Bill Hughes of Edgemont, AR., grandchildren, Jennifer Ballesteros, Kristy Hughes, Robert Hughes, and Janelle Hughes, great-grandchildren, Aiden and Andrew Ballesteros.
