Rosanne Rippy Foster Albritton passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in Graham, Texas at the age of 90. A family graveside ceremony will be held at a later date.
Rosanne was born in McCamey, Texas on September 26, 1929 to Charles Calvin Rippy and Elva TraveTrant. Elva died soon after of tuberculosis and Rosanne was raised and adopted by her aunt and uncle, Lucille Trant Foster and George Giddings Foster in Bryan, Texas while her father struggled in the Great Depression, but theyalways stayed in touch during his lifetime.
Rosanne graduated from Bryan High School and attended Southwestern University in Georgetown,Texas. She married Garland Reed Albritton on July 25, 1947 in Bryan and they moved to Midland, Texas in 1951 after Reed graduated from Texas A&M. After 27 years, they moved to Sonora, Texas for 17 years and then to Sunrise Beach, Texas in 1988 before their final move to Graham in 2006 to be close to their family.
Rosanne was a prolific genealogist and amassed thousands of pages of several family histories before the advent of computers. She was also a Texas historian and was published by several Texas history magazines through the years. She was an avid golfer and a preferred Jack & Jill partner. She was a scorekeeper for every baseball game and charted Aggie football games for many years while listening on the radio with her homemade chart. Rosanne cussed like a sailor at errant tee shots and umpires and officials, but quoted scripture on command. She enjoyed directing and delivering Meals on Wheels for many years in Sonora and Sunrise Beach, and she loved feeding her deer and geese in her front yard, and making a home for her pet skunk, Pepe le Pew.
Rosanne adored her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reed Albritton, parents Charles and Elva Rippy and George and Lucille Foster, and brother James Rippy. She leaves a daughter, Dana Albritton, son Brint Albritton and wife, Julie, all of Graham, her pride and joy twin granddaughters, Kelley Matt and husband, Alec, of Darien, Connecticut, Shannon Richey and husband, Dylan of Houston, and great-grandchildren Reed Richey, Hollan Richey, and Baby Boy Matt (in July), brother David Rippy and wife, Maridel of Downington, Pennsylvania, and sister-in-law Janet Rippy of Tyler, Texas.
The family greatly appreciates the care and love of Rosanne’s special friend, Maria Rincon. Also, many thanks to Beyond Faith Hospice and a special note of sincere gratitude to the staff at Elmcroft of Graham and all the wonderful caregivers in Memory Care.
