Rosie Mae McCoy Steele, 89, died on Friday, November 21, 2014, in Graham, Texas. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Graham on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Mrs. Steele was born January 30, 1925, in Dallas County to the late William A. and Minnie Lee (Huber) McCoy. She graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas in 1942. She attended Baylor University earning her BS Degree from Baylor in 1946. She was a life-long learner and continued her studies at Texas Woman's University achieving a Master's Degree in 1976 in the field of Language and Learning Disabilities. Mrs. Steele taught fifth grade in the Graham Independent School District for 27 years. Many youngsters in Graham developed a love of math because of her creative and dedicated role as a teacher.

Mrs. Steele married William Edgar Steele, Jr. on December 11, 1949. Together they operated Steele Ranch and raised their sons until Ed's untimely passing in 1971. After the loss of her beloved Ed, Mrs. Steele faced the future with courage, strength, and grace.

Mrs. Steele was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Graham. She and Ed were founding members of a still vibrant Sunday School Class, Circuit Riders.

Mrs. Steele is best remembered in her roles as a woman of strong, Christian faith, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Teacher, and Friend to Many. She was a skilled gardener, wonderful cook, and fine bridge player. Her extended family all remember her delicious blackberry cobblers baked with berries she grew herself. Mrs. Steele was plain-spoken, but with a caring heart. Her family rejoices in her life.

Survivors include: two sons, Dan Steele and wife, Cary of Weatherford and Mark Steele and wife, Pam of Graham. She is survived by five grandchildren, Zack Steele and wife, Ashley, Sara Hill and husband, Eric, Tom Labbe and wife, Keri, Joel Steele and Claire McLaughlin and husband, Daniel. She is survived by great- grandchildren, Brinlee, Alice, Natalie, Annie, Kyla, and Edward. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews all of whom have memorable "Aunt Rosie" stories. Steadfast friends, Hugh and Carolyn Stroud, also survive Mrs. Steele.

Memorials may be made to Samaritan Ministries at First United Methodist Church in Graham.
