Roy Major Mahan, 93, of Graham, Texas passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 in Graham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday. November 26, 2011 at Salem Crestview United Methodist Church with Reverend J.B. McCracken pastor and Reverend Don Cass of Fort Worth officiating. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Roy was born February 3, 1918 in Eastland County, Texas to the late William Issac and Nora Cate (Sadberry) Mahan. He married Mary Willie "Peggy" House on December 21, 1939 in Graham. She preceded him in death on February 17, 2006. Roy moved to Graham in 1985 from Stanton, Texas. He retired from Standard Ohio Petroleum Company as a pumper. Roy was a member of Salem Crestview United Methodist Church and a member of Grandfalls Masonic Lodge #895 where he was a 32nd degree mason and past master of the lodge. He was a mason for 50 plus years.
Survivors include: daughter, Shirley McBryde and husband Carl of Graham; sister, Mary Odell Clayton of Kansas; daughter-in-law, Judie Mahan of De Soto; grandsons, Bud McBryde and wife Kim of Fredericksburg, Bryan Mahan and wife Joanna of Crowley; granddaughter, Margaret Blair and husband Buddy of Houston; great-grandsons, Brice Blair and wife Emily of Gilmer; Drew McBryde of Gilmer; Brock Blair of Nacogdoches; Beau Blair of Nacogdoches; great-granddaughters, Sherry McBryde of Oklahoma; Pam Mahan of Crowley; great-great granddaughter, Briley Blair of Gilmer. Roy was preceded in death by a son Ronnie Lee Mahan on February 24, 2009.
The family will receive friends Friday 6 until 8p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
