Russell Carey, Jr., 88, passed away Wednesday January 31, 2024. Graveside funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 3, 2024 in Pioneer Cemetery.
Russell was born January 14, 1936 in Pecos, Texas to the late Mary Elizabeth Agee Carey and Russell Raymond Carey, Sr. He graduated from Graham High School Class of 1954. Russell attended the University of Texas in Austin. He was a retired independent Oil and Gas Operator and a private pilot for over 20 years.
Russell was a proud servant for the Graham community. He was a former member of the Rotary Club and Jaycees where he was awarded “Outstanding Jaycee” 1962-1963. Russell was a cub scout pack leader and was very active in the Confederate Air Force where he served as Squadron leader. At First Presbyterian Church of Graham, he served as a Deacon for two terms 1967-74 and 2009-2012.
Survivors include; daughter, Connie Carey of Graham; son, Russell Carey III and wife Danielle of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Russell Carey IV, Alyssa Carey, Leslie Anne Pyron, and Paige Darrah and husband Matt; great grandchildren, Poppy, Triton, Gwenyth and Faith; and niece, Lisa Smith Williamson of Wichita Falls.
Russell was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Lou Smith of Wichita Falls and a daughter, Deborah Ann Carey and the love of his life, his dog, “Harley”.
Visitation Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or First Presbyterian Church Graham.
