Ruth Nell Clark Parker passed away May 10, 2023 at her home in Graham. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 1 p.m. in Eastside Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Synder.
Nell married Sterling Parker on November 9, 1991 in Monahans. She was born on November 13, 1933 in Childress County to Dowe Littleton Clark and Annie Ruth Stone Clark. Her place of birth was in a little home a few hundred yards west off Highway 83/62 at a place that no longer exist, called High Lonesome, between Childress and Puducah.
Nell is survived by her husband, Sterling Parker of Graham, her twin sons, Barry Nance and his special lady Rita Cardwell of Gainesville and Garry Nance and wife, Debbie of Kermit, her daughter, Cheryl Bingham and husband, Don of Odessa, son, Stanley Jenkins of Las Animas, CO, daughter, Trish White of Amarillo, and son, Wesley Jenkins of Whitesboro. She is also survived by two sisters, Sharon Fay Jones of McAlester, OK and Gerry Marie Aldrige and husband, Dennis of Magdalena, NM. She leaves behind eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren with one on the way, and one great great that is on the way. She had wished to witness the birth of these newest additions of the family. She leaves behind a large family of nieces and nephews.
Passing before Nell were both of her parents, her eldest son, Don Nance of Graham, a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Nance of Monahans, a sister, Mae Bottoms of Brownfield and Nell’s brother Sonny Clark of Breckenridge.
Before the beginnings of internet genealogy, Nell was most happy going through the dusty books of a genealogy library, looking for the elusive hint that would lead her to that next ancestor or traveling with her husband to far away states in their RV, walking cemeteries, or going to courthouses. She found a special bond to many of the wonderful people she met during these trips.
Her love of family was always on display during the holiday seasons as her children were always home, including many of her grandchildren, and all the special dishes that she had learned from when she was a child were prepared for the banquet, reminiscent of the Norman Rockwell Painting.
Pallbearers will be Wes Jenkins, Roger Simmons, Alex Blain, Matt Wood, Chandler Wood and Danny Aldridge and honorary pallbearer Wyatt Wood.
